Rosie in Korea
Friday, September 28, 2007

It's hard to imagine my Korean fans. I've never heard from them. I've never met a single one. And yet Korea is only the second country in the world to publish my illustrated children's book for adults, O Great Rosenfeld! They sent it to me yesterday. I have to say, I was pretty thrilled.

A New Contest!
Monday, September 17, 2007

So. Those of you who have read it know that the 3 of Hearts is a card which occurs again and again in Henry's life. Conceivably the author could have chosen any card to recur: why the 3 of Hearts? This sounds like an essay question, but it's not. Just guess. Come on. What do you think? Post your answers here.
I'll let a little time pass before I confirm or deny. Good luck!

I can't believe I just figured this out
Wednesday, September 12, 2007

. . . but what better place to get advice on where to eat, directions, if this book makes my butt look big and what time I should leave for the airport than from the crowd I have assembled before me just before I begin a reading? I just figured this out last night, in the beautiful town of Fairhope, Alabama (which has a pretty amazing history if you're interested). I needed to know what time I had to leave Fairhope in order to get to the Mobile airport in time to make my 7:30am flight. After much discussion, the group settled on 5:30, and so that's what I did. Beth, she of The Coffee Loft, voted for 6, and technically she was correct because I got to the airport and turned in my rental car with time to spare. Beth gave me a free cup of coffee and a delicious fruit muffin this morning (she opens at 5). A great trip, and the official end of my tour! This isn't the last time you have a chance to hear from me, I'll be leaving home again, but not on Doubleday's dime. See you then.

My Travel Plans -- with exclamation points!
Wednesday, September 5, 2007

I forgot to mention that I'll be in Greensboro this afternoon and tonight. Tonight it's a public event near the Guilford campus, when I plan to throw my hat into the ring for the race to the White House! But this afternoon I'll be talking to the incoming freshman at Guilford because they were all forced to read Big Fish over the summer. I'm sure I'll be a big hit because kids love compulsory summer reading!
Saturday: reading at the lovely local bookstore McIntyre's at 11 in the morning, reading from New Stories from the South, reading from a story one reviewer said "seems to be more interested in pushing at some macabre idea of truth and honesty, and instead rushes to a conclusion that makes his characters seem more like vehicles for the story, rather than cared-for participants in it." You'll love it!
Tuesday, September 11th: at Page and Palette in Fairhope, AL, a gig I've been looking forward to for some time.
And on the 15th, I'll be attending my daughter's wedding!!!!!! Where I will reading a toast.
