How to Write a Story, Part IV

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

This true one is not a lot different from the made-up ones.

A friend of mine, David Cleland, is a teacher at a swanky high school in Lisburn, Ireland. He teaches a screenwriting class and since I've written some scripts -- none of which have ever even gotten close to being produced, by the way -- and because one of my books was produced -- he asked me to do an iChat session with his class.

It was great. I sat in front of my computer at home and in moments my image was whooshed across the sea to his classroom, and we all had a nice chat for about twenty minutes or so.

David put up a story about it on the school's website. Then Apple heard about it, and they posted it on their website. Finally, the local paper heard about it, and they wrote a story about it.
In one story, I wrote a book. In another, I wrote a script. But the last is the very best of all.
